- Spring 997 (S08E01, E02), Twilight Sparkle led the founding of the School of Friendship to spread the knowledge of friendship to ponies and to non-pony species.
- 24 December 997, the timeline diverged slightly from the main timeline for the first time. In the School of Friendship's first year, on the eve of the third-from-last Hearth's Warming, the school's students were preparing to go home for the two-week holiday. The last lesson before the holiday — on the customs and history of Hearth's Warming — had to be cancelled because Teacher Twilight received a Map of Friendship mission. The students went home early. Hearth's Warming and the history of Equestria had never been widely known among the changelings or the other species. Apart from historians and street-corner fortune-tellers, few non-Equestrian species still remembered the legend of the Windigos.
